I’ve been in Queenstown 3 times.

I’ve been in Queenstown 3 times. I can’t say enough about the beauty in its natural surroundings. It’s so beautiful in summer and autumn. Pick a nice apartment and stay for a week. You can take a walk along the lake, or rent a bike, or paddle in the lake. There are just too many ways to celebrate the beauty. Avoid the tourist attractions and go to the off beaten tracks. Pack a picnic and sit under the sun for the fresh air. Queenstown is everything you want.

Queenstown is a mountain town on a lake with a beautiful waterfront. You can walk or bike around the lake. Lots of tourist shops, restaurants, and activities in and around the main centre. It is very easy to walk around Queenstown, more of a pain to drive as there is a lot packed into a small space. I wish they had a train from Christchurch and you could leave the car behind as there is enough to do by foot, boat or even tour bus for days.

The hotel was good, limited parking and a little on high on cost. Queenstown is nice little city, if you have time you can travel to Milford sound, but as we were there for two days, the Information Centre was only interested in selling the tours they do and we found out that there was more todo within the city, like Paragliding, Cable car and nice restaurants and cafes, English Gardens, Ferry across the lake etc.

Queenstown is as fantastic holiday destination for every age group. The location is stunning, the range of activities available unbelievable, restaurants and cafes are in good supply and the staff are happy and helpful. Autumn is a ringer time of the year to be in this beautiful city… full of colour… not too cold.. just perfect. It is easy to walk around, signage is good and the only downside can be parking so if you can walk all the better.

Gateway Apartments in Queenstown are in a good location in the Frankton area. This is about a 15min trip into Queenstown . You would need your own transport at this location but it is a very handy spot if you are exploring this beautiful part of NZ. Units are a bit dated but comfortable and even though it is located on a busy main road, traffic noise was non existent . We had a great stay with our family and would use this accommodation again.

The #5 apartment was spacious but very dated i.e. a plastic couch, really cheap decor. In the bathroom, the tub should’ve had some kind of Slip guard and a bar to hold onto. It was very convenient and kitchen well appointed, appliances cheap quality. Bed was very comfortable. Good view of lake, but noisy with tour buses outside. Definitely needs to be updated in terms of decor.

We liked that it was a cheaper place to stay over Christmas compared to other stays in Queenstown. The staff were excellent and very knowledgeable. The bed was quite comfy and set low on the ground. The decor was "interesting" and neither good or bad. The bathroom was alright with a shower/bath combo but the water pressure and temperature was awesome.

Our room on the 3rd floor had a lovely view. Beds were very comfortable. In spite of the hotel facing the main road into Queenstown, the rooms were quiet at night. I liked the view from the restaurant - very peaceful, sauna facility, friendliness of most staff, accessibility of transport - ferry from hotel to town centre, overall good value for money (considering Queenstown can be very expensive), restaurant + breakfast buffet, air conditioning in the room - without it it would've been incredibly hot.
